NEXT CONCERT | TO BE ANNOUNCED

Today a lot of people might raise questions about the way live and recorded music will develop in the near future. Why are some groups of listeners more difficult to reach? How has technology changed social tendencies? What about the level of creativity found in some of the artistic disciplines? However, in a small-scale yet remarkable epitome of this universe, known as IPSO FACTO, artistic creativity is sparkling and ready for expansion. And whatever deities of music exist out there, they are nodding in approval right now.

IPSO FACTO's story - like most interesting stories – is one of assimilating a wide range of cultures, friendship, and musical craftmanship. State-of-the-art grooves, backed up by multi-faceted jazz textures and ultra-melodic lines are the trademarks of this unique quartet with international roots. Dutch drummer and percussionist Ron van Stratum, Ukrainian bassist Roman Korolik, Greek guitarist Costa Arvanitidis, and Belgian keyboardist-composer Dirk Schreurs were on the look out to create music that reflected who they had been individually and collectively.

This quartet began experimenting with jazz, funk and world music that could groove as hard as soul rhythms, yet remained essentially melodic and propulsive, giving the musicians plenty of room to create expressive textures out of improvisation and interplay. “From the first notes we played together, each of us experienced a rhythmic and playful chemistry, both as human beings and musicians. We just let the compositions develop in whatever direction they go. What is more, we feel an organic communication blossoming between us musically,” says Dirk Schreurs, “and in addition to that we share a kind of mutual respect that leads us beyond our music.”

IPSO FACTO want to share the joy of playing original jazz-funk-world compositions by Dirk Schreurs that reflect their emotions and connectedness. Moreover, they will take their audience to a universe, where creative energies and spontaneity are revered and encouraged. And this is just the onset to a joyful journey into infinite artistic openness.
